Andre the Turtle Says "OM" ओम्
We can learn much about resilience from animals. They stay in the moment, rarely (if ever) hold grudges or complain. Meet Andre the turtle.
"It's a beautiful thing to see a turtle who had overcome so many obstacles," said said Melissa Ranly, hospital coordinator for the Loggerhead Marinelife Center.
Last summer, Andre was seriously mauled by boat propellers. Infected, with a collapsed lung, he nearly died. After 13 months of high tech intervention Andre's been released back to the sea.
Scientists continue to explore whether a positive outlook speeds healing. Georgetown professor & NIH researcher Norman Rosenthal, M.D.'s new book Transcendence: Healing and Transformation Through Transcendental Meditation documents meditation's measurable, positive impact on longevity and cardiovascular and mental health. Of course, Andre didn't need a class or a yogi to center himself:
He'd make eye contact with you," Ranly told the Palm Beach Post. "He had this real calm about him."
