4 years after she was paralyzed from the chest down, Lisa Sudo steps out with a robotic aid. Journalist Bob Kalinowski, (with his special knack for ferreting out the inspiring) tells her story here: "I kind of think that I was put in this position to give people inspiration and show them that there is hope and it pays off to never give up." Sudo's robotic exoskeleton was developed byEKSO Bionics. Founded in Berkley in 2005 to augment human mobility, EKSO crows, "Biomedical technology has caught up with human grit". Meanwhile, Sam Reeves' Humanistic Robotics develops robotics to safely clear landmines and IEDs (improvised explosive devices). It's a brave new world.
O wonder!
How many goodly creatures are there here!
How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world,
That has such people in't.
